New Balay Silangan Reformatory Center opens in Malungon

MALUNGON, Sarangani (April 17, 2021) – Mayor Maria Theresa Constantino (2nd from left) turns over certificates of completion to 29 Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUDs) during their graduation rites and turn-over of the new Balay Silangan Reformatory Center on April 14 at Purok Maliwanag, Barangay Poblacion. The PWUDs are among the 2nd and 3rd batches of former drug dependents who have already completed their reformatory care at Balay Silangan on March 2020, but were unable to do formal graduation rites because of the pandemic. These PWUDs also completed their training from the free technical course offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The turnover ceremony of the new P9.8-million drug rehabilitation center and graduation rites were witnessed by Regional Director Naravy Duquiatan (3rd from left) of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XII; Judge Oscar Noel (4th from left) of the Regional Trial Court Branch 35, Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon (4th from right), Vice Mayor Mariano Escalada Jr. (3rd from left), Regional Director Josephine Leysa (2nd from left) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) XII; PLTCOL Joedy Lito Guisinga (extreme right), deputy provincial director for administration of the Sarangani Police Provincial Office; and other guests from partner agencies.
