Episode 1 of the NDEP Webinar Series was conducted on June 24, 2021, titled "Helping Youth Stay Drug-Free Through Literacy." It tackled the importance of drug education in helping learners be aware of the harmful effects of drugs. Correct knowledge and information are critical to reduce the risk of drug use.

BLSS-SHD invited Prof. Francis Grace Duka-Pante, Director of ASEAN Training Center for Preventive Drug Education - University of the Philippines, as the speaker for the first episode of the series. Prof. Duka-Pante emphasized that the family remains the most important protective factor. The ultimate role of the parents, responsible adults, teachers, and prevention advocates is to serve as good role models for our young people.
