INAUGURATION OF BALAY SILANGAN REFORMATION CENTER IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SANTA CATALINA, ILOCOS SUR

On October 27, 2022, DIR II VALENTE G CARIÑO, Assistant Regional Director of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office I (PDEA-ROI) attended the Inauguration of Balay Silangan Reformation Center in Barangay Poblacion, Santa Catalina, Ilocos Sur, the 6th in the province of Ilocos Sur .
 
Hon. Edgar R Rapanut, Mayor, with Hon. Niño R Realin, Vice Mayor; led the activity attended by PCOL MARLO A CASTILLO, Provincial Director ISPPO; Dir. Joel Pilotin, Provincial Director, TESDA; and other stakeholders from different agencies.
 

Balay Silangan Reformation Center is a community-based reformation program aimed to rehabilitate drug surrenderees in the facility which serves as temporary shelter provided by local government units, and other stakeholders.

Further, general interventions like continuing education and health awareness; and psychological/spiritual/physical activities such as counseling, moral recovery, values formation are provided in the facility. Livelihood and skills training program are also provided, aimed of giving employment opportunities when they leave the center, thus, turning them into self-sufficient and responsible individuals.

The partnership among all stakeholders was formalized thru signing of Manifesto of Commitment.
