REGIONAL ICAD IX ADVOCACY CLUSTER CONVENED ON ITS 3RD QUARTER MEETING
The Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) IX Advocacy Cluster convened on September 14, 2022 at Kalikasan Hall, Hotel Guillermo, Pagadian City on its 3rd Quarter Meeting CY 2022.
DILG IX Assistant Regional Director Engr. Carmelo Enrique B. Libot, CESO V, shared during his opening message that one of the departments priorities under the leadership of DILG Secretary Benjamin C. Abalos Jr. is strengthening of anti-illegal drugs campaign by addressing its root cause. With this, ARD Libot encouraged all member-agencies to stay committed to support this campaign by sustaining and intensifying the fight against drug menace. Furthermore, he also enjoined the LGUs to be consistent and ensure that the local anti-drug abuse councils are functional in protecting their respective communities against illegal drugs.
The meeting was presided by LGOO VI Jerome Loyd M. Ogawan, Regional ADAC Focal Person, on behalf of Regional Director Paisal O. Abutazil, CESO III, ICAD IX Advocacy Cluster Chairman.
Prior to the presentation of each member-agencies, PDEA gave updates on the status of Drug Affectation and Barangay Drug Clearing Program in the region. Consolidated issues and concerns that were raised by the members during the 2nd the quarter meeting last June 29, 2022 were also presented and responded accordingly.
The meeting focused on the presentation of member-agencies 3rd quarter accomplishments, challenges and issues encountered, and next plan of activities for the remaining quarter and succeeding months relative to Anti-Illegal drugs advocacy campaign. Another highlight of the meeting was the discussion on preparation of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) week, wherein member-agencies were able to determine activities to be conducted. One of the agreed events is a Regional Orientation on the Drug Free Workplace Policy and Program. DAPC Week is being celebrated every 3rd week of November in every year and in the whole country.
Member-Agencies present during the meeting were PDEA, PNP, DOH, DSWD, TESDA, DOLE, DOJ-PPA, PIA, PCG and DILG. Also in attendance to deliver their reports were representatives from Provincial Offices namely LGOO II Patrick Adam Bonga of DILG Zamboanga Del Sur, LGOO II Ms. Crizel Mae Adasa of DILG Zamboanga Del Norte and LGOO II Ju Wackem Autida of DILG Zamboanga Sibugay
