3rd Quarter Regional Inter-agency Committee on Anti-illegal Drugs - Advocacy Cluster Meeting

  1. Call to Order

Regional Director Karl Caesar R. Rimando, CESO III, RICAD Chairperson, called the meeting to order at 9:00 in the morning. The secretariat led the invocation.

 

The Chairperson of RICAD MIMAROPA – Advocacy Cluster, RD Karl Caesar R. Rimando, CESO III gave his message before the committee.

The member of the secretariat, Riznette Kathleen S. Sales, called the roll and acknowledged all the member agencies who were present. With the majority of the members present, the secretariat certified the presence of a quorum.

  1. BIDA Caravan Updates

 

  • BIDA Activities

 

On June 22, 2023 conducted BIDA Fun Run in Pola, Oriental Mindoro with SILG Atty. Benhur C. Abalos Jr. The fun run joined by participants from LGU Pola and different government agencies in Oriental Mindoro.

 

The BIDA Caravan Kickoff Activity was conducted on August 2, 2023 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The fun run was joined by approximately 2000 participants.

 

The BIDA Caravan Lecture Seminar conducted on August 15, 2023 in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro joined by 120 students from City College of Calapan, Mindoro State University and SK members of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

 

  • BIDA Caravan Culminating Activity

 

The BIDA Caravan Culminating Activities will be conducted for two (2) days. The first day (September 12, 2023) would be the conduct of World Café: BIDA and BADAC which will be participated by BADACs with best practices against illegal drugs and lecture seminar regarding the Barangay Drug Clearing Program which will be led by PDEA MIMAROPA. Moreover, on the second day of the culminating activity (September 13, 2023), BIDA Fun Run: MAHALTA Run NA will be conducted together with Job Opportunity Fest, Trade Fair for Local Products and Service Caravan which will be partnered with different National Government Agencies. On the same day, the BIDA Caravan Contests winners will also be awarded.

 

LGOO V Riznette Kathleen S. Sales and ADAC RTA Juan Miguel D. Sarabia facilitated the following contests:

 

  1. Presentation and Judging of Entries for BIDA Caravan Contests

 

  • BIDAng Ina (BIDA Dance Contest)

To promote women empowerment BIDA Caravan launched BIDAng Ina Dance Contest to showcase their talents and to promote campaign against illegal drugs. There were two participants across MIMAROPA joined the contest. One entry from Oriental Mindoro and one entry from Occidental Mindoro.

 

  • Ang Aking BIDAng Bayan Laban sa Iligal na Droga (Short Film Making Contest)

 

This contest entails passion in Film industry and this could be used in promoting the campaign against illegal drugs. The BIDA Caravan launched Short Film Making Contest to show the contestants their creative minds, skills and talents in the field of acting.

 

The said contest was joined by different participants from the Province of Oriental Mindoro (4 entries), Province of Marinduque (1 entry), Province of Romblon (1 entry) and Province of Palawan (1 entry).

 

  • Ka-BIDAng Indakan ng Kabataan (TikTok Contest of BIDA song)

 

TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms across the internet and popular to kids and teens here in the country. In connection to the BIDA program, in order to promote the BIDA Program the participants were tasked to create a TikTok video using the BIDA song. A total of ten (10) TikTok video entries from the Province of Oriental Mindoro (7 entries), Province of Occidental Mindoro (2 entries) and Province of Palawan (1 entry) were judged by the ICAD members.

 

  • Sa Musika at Sining, Banda ang BIDA (Drum and Lyre Contest)

 

The BIDA Caravan also launched Drum and Lyre contest to showcase talent and love for music of the youth. A total of 5 entries were submitted from the Province of Palawan (2 entries) and City of Puerto Princesa (3 etries).

 

  • Ang Aking BIDAng Bayan Laban sa Iligal na Droga (Poster Making Contest)

 

The poster making contest with a total of 68 entries from all of the provinces of MIMAROPA. The province of Oriental Mindoro have 25 entries followed by Palawan with 14 entries. Then, Occidental Mindoro with 13 entries. Meanwhile, both Romblon and Marinduque ties for 8 entries.

 

  1. AGREEMENTS/DISCUSSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS

 

  • The Chairperson of RICAD MIMAROPA – Advocacy Cluster, RD Karl Caesar R. Rimando, CESO III, gave his gratitude to the ICAD Members who gave their time to judge the entries from different contests of the BIDA Caravan. The Chairperson of RICAD MIMAROPA also thanked the ICAD members for their support in the BIDA Program of the DILG.
  • Moreover, RD Karl Caesar R. Rimando, CESO III requested the ICAD Members to submit the scores of Ang Aking BIDAng Bayan Laban sa Iligal na Droga (Poster Making Contest) entries at 1:00 pm.
