CAGAYAN DE ORO, Oct. 20 | In line with the Region-10 Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD)- Advocacy Cluster’s commitment to intensify conduct of campaign initiatives in the fight against illegal drugs, another radiobroadcast episode was conducted highlighting the Department of Health’s (DOH’s) initiatives and achievements as member of the said committee.

In the said interview, DOH Nurse Maria Dolores Mercado presented what the ill effects of drugs are, what are the indicators of a person who uses illegal drugs, and the ways in which we can help our families and friends who are in such a situation.

Moreover, on their support for the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program, Ms. Mercado expresses that the DOH continues to strengthen their efforts against the drug menace, saying, “Our priority area is under the pillar prevention and health promotion of the BIDA Program; we train the youth to prevent the use of illegal drugs, and we still continue our intervention programs”.

Meanwhile, DOH-10 focuses on the capacity building of their doctors or primary care providers to continue providing general interventions to Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs).

She also mentioned that using illegal substances can affect a person's mental health. To avoid such mental health disorders, we should know where and how to ask for help.

The 4th ICAD Radio Broadcasting for this year was conducted in partnership with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 10, together with Radyo Pilipinas, Cagayan de Oro City.
