DILG recognizes 16 NorMin LGUs for anti-drug efforts

QUEZON CITY, METRO MANILA, November 22 - The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Wednesday awarded 16 local government units in Northern Mindanao for executing exemplary performance in implementing the national government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign, during the National Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Awards.

The following LGUs are the national awardees from region 10:

• Damulog, Bukidnon

• Malitbog, Bukidnon

• Camiguin Province

• Catarman, Camiguin

• Guinsiliban, Camiguin

• Mahinog, Camiguin

• Mambajao, Camiguin

• Sagay, Camiguin

• Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte

• Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte

• Sapad, Lanao del Norte

• Binuangan, Misamis Oriental

• Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental

• Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental

• Lugait, Misamis Oriental

• Naawan, Misamis Oriental

The event was graced by Secretary of the Interior and Local Government (SILG) Attorney Benjamin Abalos, Jr., along with DILG 10 Regional Director Wilhelm M. Suyko, and other Regional Directors in the country. Also present during the awarding are the Local Chief Executives (LCEs) as well as the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs).

SILG Abalos congratulated all awardees and highlighted that the local government units are essential in the fulfillment of the Department’s anti-drug efforts, further emphasizing that the current administration will proactively strengthen the war against illegal drugs.

“To battle this problem, we must battle it direct to the grassroots, and the battle ground is on the LGUs […] kayo ang bayani ng ating bansa,” he expressed.

Meanwhile, the Municipalities of Binuangan, Maramag, and Calamba were also recognized for its commendable dedication and service in providing quality Community-Based Drug Rehabilitaiton Program (CBDRP) for persons who used drugs.
